India captain Rohit Sharma smashed his fastest fifty in Test cricket on Saturday, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls against the West Indies in the second Test in Antigua.
The 35-ball fifty is the fastest by an Indian batsman in Test cricket, and the third fastest overall. Sharma surpassed the previous record of 36 balls, set by Pakistan's Shahid Afridi in 2005.
Sharma's innings was a crucial one for India, as they were chasing a target of 297 to win the match. He put on a 98-run opening stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made 41, to help India get off to a good start.
Sharma was eventually dismissed for 60, but his innings helped India to win the match by seven wickets
